How To Fix Iphone 6s Plus Screen Not Responding

Although rare, it is possible for an iPhone's touch screen to stop working or become unresponsive. This can be irritating due to the increased dependency on our iPhone for most work. Usually, the problem occurs if the iPhone has been dropped or smashed.

However, various software bugs/glitches or faulty apps could also lead to frozen iPhone screens. Additionally, sometimes a screen protector could also hinder your touch and display of the iPhone. But we found several workarounds to fix the problem.

Uninstall the app

1. Uninstall the app

If you've noticed that your iPhone's screen becomes unresponsive while using a particular app, then that app might be the reason. Buggy apps can also be the reason for your iPhone screen not responding to touch. What you can do here is try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

If your iPhone screen refuses to input touch and stops working when you are inside a particular app, it is most likely the app's fault. To fix this, you may go to the homescreen and try restarting your iPhone.

If that does not help,uninstall and reinstall the app. Here's how:

Press and hold the app icon on the home screen.
Tap Remove App.
Next, tap Delete App.
Finally, tap Delete.

If your iPhone's touch screen is responding well now, then it was probably the app's fault. You can try contacting the app's developers and report them the same. If the problem persists, move on to the next step.

2. Force restart your iPhone

Now, restart your device. You may wonder how you will turn off your iPhone when the screen is not working. Well, there is a way to reboot your iPhone even without using the touchscreen. To do so,

On iPhone 8 or newer:

Quickly press and release the Volume Up button.
Then quickly press and release the Volume Down button.
Finally, press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo pops up.

On iPhone 7 and 7 Plus: Press and hold either the Volume Up/Volume Down button along with the power button until you see the Apple logo.

On iPhone 6S or earlier: Press and hold the Power button and Home button simultaneously until the Apple logo appears on the screen.

This method fixes the unresponsive touch screen issue in most cases.

3. Clean your iPhone

Even though iPhone 7 and later are water-resistant, they have a limit. The liquid on the iPhone's display can hinder your touch with the screen, making it unresponsive. Consider wiping off any liquid or debris from your iPhone with a dry cloth.

If your iPhone was submerged in a pool or fell in a liquid, turn off your iPhone first. Let it dry completely, and then turn it on. If you feel the liquid has entered inside your iPhone's speakers and microphone, check our guide to eject liquid from iPhone.

Note : Never plug a wet iPhone (or any device) into a charger, computer, or external power source.

4. Update your iPhone using a computer

Sometimes, software updates can help fix the bugs or glitches of the existing software version. Try updating your iPhone by connecting it to a Mac or PC which you normally use.

This guide might help you to get along with the process. Moreover, if that doesn't work, you can try taking a backup and restore your iPhone through your Mac or PC. In some cases, this helps.

5. Reset your iPhone

If your iPhone's screen is completely unusable, head on to the next solution. However, if it is a little responsive, try to reset your iPhone.

6. Perform DFU

DFU stands for Device Firmware Upgrade. This is the last step you can take. If your iPhone still has touchscreen problems after trying DFU mode, then you can be pretty sure that it is related to hardware.

DFU removes everything from your device and reinstalls the whole software again. All your data will be lost. So ensure you do this only if you have a backup or do not have essential data on your iPhone that you cannot download from the cloud.

7. Hardware defect

If none of the above steps work, it's surely the hardware problem. Consider contacting Apple Support to get the screen replaced. However, the replacement can be a bit costly.

A word of caution before you go: For fixing touch screen issues on earlier iPhone models, some sites recommend pushing the screen from the right side. This may fix the problem of a loose screen connector. However, on the iPhone, I would ask that you proceed with the sincerest precaution. Do not try anything grave that might magnify the problem.
